Welcome back to our week-long series on your new year, new you look!
On Monday we looked at what we can do with dark colored walls in the home and a couple of ways to pair them. Today, on the same leaf, we're tackling the balance between dark and light colors in your home.
There's a delicate balance between decorating with light and dark, and we're going to help you find your own with a little inspiration!
Starting with this modern looking room, the light floors and walls are going to be unique in our series. While at first they may seem unadorned, the pairing of the large-scaled and dark artwork hung on them balance out the empty space nicely.
The art pieces are created with a simple series of lines, yet are important to the visual direction of the room. The visual interest of the art and the warm wood directly underneath it create the perfect balance between light and dark.
This room has balance down to a science. The hardwood floors and white trimming pair incredibly well with the black wall and ceiling. The artwork on the wall draws in the eye to the center of the room because of it's white background but doesn't overwhelm the room. Choosing one accent color to pair the neutrals with makes the room warm and grounded.
This room is primarily decorated with white and white space, making it welcoming and inviting. The dark wooden floor works to balance the amount of white in the room, but doesn't overpower the airiness to it. The dark pieces of furniture are anchored by lighter pieces like the small rug and piece of art, which stands out due to the pattern against the solids.
This space utilizes the dark wall to it's fullest. Covering it with pieces of black and white art with buffering white space. Pairing this balance with the warmth of toffee colored chairs gives the look the richness it needs while giving you a place to visually (and literally) rest!
Altogether this room creates a chic look like no other.
